The Cradle of Humankind has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Area. Residents and tourist organizations within the boundaries of the Cradle of Humankind geographical area who support responsible land useage and the principals of UNESCO, have championed a community based association principly tasked with taking measures on an organized basis to protect the integrity of this environmentally sensitive area.
The Cradle of Humankind owes its existence to a Dolomite reef which extends from Carletonville in the South to Centurion in the North. This sensitive Dolomite reef has created thousands of caves which contain the worlds oldest fossils.
